Open Wide: Oral Health in the Bush

Open Wide: Oral Health in the Bush is a new Rural Health Education Foundation television program which explores the special circumstances faced by people living in rural and remote areas where the dental workforce shortage is particularly acute. It highlights the need for expanded primary health care services, including preventive approaches to good oral health, and broad-based oral health promotion activities. It looks at strategies to improve access to services in rural and remote Australia, and to refine the referral pathways; it also considers the important role played by other dental health professionals, General Practitioners, nurses, and allied health professionals in the areas of prevention and the promotion of good oral health.

Once you registered for free on the Foundation home page you can watch "Open Wide: Oral Health in the Bush" as well as most other programs offered by the Foundation as a web-streamed video, download or listen to the podcast (audio only), or you can purchase a DVD copy.

What's new at the Library: My Reading History

One of the questions I'm occaisionally asked by staff and students is whether or not it would be possible to get a list of books they have borrowed in the past, the rationale behind the request being they would like to borrow a book again. Up until now the answer was no, but the introduction of the new My Reading History feature this week changes all that.

All you need to do to access this feature is to login to My Library, and click Opt in. Make sure you read the disclosure statement, which advises you of what you need to be aware of and what your responsibilties are. You can opt in and out whenever you want to, and delete any and/or all of the titles in your reading history.

Library staff will not access OR DISCLOSE your reading history except where in accordance with University policy or legislation. See Section 8 of the University's ICT Resources Policy for more information.
